Number of Positions 1 position available
Affiliation Solid State Battery Ionics Group
Center for Green Research on Energy and Environmental Materials
Work Description

The successful candidate will conduct research on ion transport mechanisms in oxide solid electrolytes and all-solid-state battery materials. The aim is to understand lithium-ion diffusion in solids at the atomic and nanoscale levels, and to clarify the relationships among crystal structure, local structure, ion correlations, and ionic conductivity.
The research will combine solid-state NMR, pulsed-field gradient (PFG) NMR, two-dimensional exchange NMR, impedance spectroscopy, and tracer diffusion methods to analyze lithium-ion diffusion in polycrystalline and single-crystal solid electrolytes. Particular emphasis will be placed on garnet-type oxide solid electrolytes and related high-ionic-conductivity materials, with the goal of elucidating the crystallographic and dynamic factors governing ion transport, including correlated and cooperative ion diffusion.
Applicants with strong interests in solid-state ionics, solid-state NMR, electrochemistry, or inorganic materials science, and with motivation to explore the fundamental science of ion transport and develop advanced solid electrolyte materials, are encouraged to apply.
