Work Description	Deformation and fracture behavior of steels
Scope of Work Description Change	Duties are subject to change within the scope of the Employee’s position.
Qualification	The applicants should have extensive experience in evaluating the mechanical properties of metallic materials, particularly in fracture mechanics testing. The applicants should hold (or be expected to obtain) a Ph.D. degree in materials science, mechanical engineering, or a related field. We welcome highly motivated applicants who are willing to actively discuss and collaborate with researchers and technical staff involved in the research activities.
Starting Date	December 1st, 2026, or later (negotiable)
Term	Initially one year, renewable up to five years based on annual evaluation
Contract Renewal Criteria / Maximum Employment Period	Renewal of the contract will be determined based on work performance, work attitude, progress of the work engaged in, workload at the end of the contract period, budget situation, and other factors.
Work Place	National Institute for Materials Science, Sengen site (Tsukuba-city, Ibaraki)
Scope of Work Location Changes	The scope of the change of place of work shall be limited to each of the Employer’s site, as well as other locations separately approved by the Employer.
Work Hours	7 hours 45 minutes a day, 5 days a week * Deemed working hours when the discretionary labor system is applied are 8 hours and 15 minutes per day.
Holiday	Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, New Year Holidays, annual paid leave and other holidays as stipulated in the Working Regulations.
Salary / Supply	Monthly salary 325,360~ 493,012 yen (To be determined in accordance with the Salary Regulations for Fixed Term Employees) ※Deemed overtime allowance included in monthly salary (Article 13-2 of the Salary Regulations for Fixed Term)
Trial Period	Two months from the start date of employment
Insurance	Health insurance (MEXT Mutual Aid Association), Welfare Pension Insurance, Employment Insurance and Worker’s Accident Compensation Insurance.
