(2)Usage

  • Reports should in principle be made by letter, phone, fax, or email. To ensure accurate understanding of the information provided and a quick response, please provide as much detail as you can and submit it to the reporting contact.
  • If using the external contact, please be sure to notify them that report is for the external contact of the National Institute for Materials Science.

(3)Notes

  • A report of misconduct will in principle be accepted if it is made openly in your own name, if it details the misconduct such that a target for investigation can be identified, and if the basis for alleging misconduct is provided.
  • Having made a report, the notifier will not suffer any disadvantageous treatment by NIMS.
  • During any subsequent investigation, the NIMS investigation committee may request cooperation from the notifier.
  • Should the investigation conclude that the report was made with malice, disclosure of the notifier's name, disciplinary action, and criminal prosecution are possible.
