ICYS offers young researchers the opportunity to pursue independent research driven by their own innovative ideas.
ICYS offers two fixed-term positions:
ICYS PI
Description: Build and manage your own small-scale research unit and pioneer unique research areas recognized globally
Term: 5 years from appointment
Research Environment: Access to NIMS’s state-of-the-art research facilities. Allocation of technical assistants and postdoctoral fellows (up to 3 years, subject to review) is possible
Research Budget: 4,000,000 JPY/year
ICYS RF
Description: Promote highly flexible research and realize your original ideas
Term: 3 years from appointment (renewable up to 5 years based on evaluation)
Research Environment: Access to NIMS’s state-of-the-art research facilities
Research Budget: 2,000,000 JPY/year
ICYS PI and ICYS RF positions are open for applications twice a year, around August/September and February/March.
