Work Description
Development of glass materials with superior physical properties compared to silica glass
 
Scope of Work Description Change Duties are subject to change within the scope of the Employee’s position.
Qualification
  • Applicants must have obtained or be expected to obtain a degree in research related to the job duties and be able to engage in research with enthusiasm.
  • Applicants must be in good physical and mental health.
  • Applicants must possess general interpersonal communication skills.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with experience in material fabrication and evaluation of various physical properties. Experience in discharge plasma sintering is further desirable.
Starting Date January 1, 2026 (negotiable)
Term One year
(Extension may be possible up to March 31, 2028, depending on his/her performance based on annual reviews.)
Contract Renewal Criteria / Maximum Employment Period Renewal of the contract will be determined based on work performance, work attitude, progress of the work engaged in, workload at the end of the contract period, budget situation, and other factors. The maximum employment period shall not exceed 2 years. This may be subject to change because of amendments to the Working Regulations.
Work Place NIMS Namiki site (Tsukuba, Japan)
Scope of Work Location Changes The scope of the change of place of work shall be limited to each of the Employer’s site, as well as other locations separately approved by the Employer.
Work Hours Five days a week, 7 hours 45 minutes a day (negotiable as the flex-time system)
Deemed working hours when the discretionary labor system is applied are 8 hours and 15 minutes per day.
Holiday Saturday, Sunday, National Holidays, and other days designated by the institute
Salary / Supply
Monthly salary: 344,860 JPY ~ 446,210 JPY
Fixed overtime pay included in monthly salary
(Article 10, item 3 of the Salary Regulations for Fixed Term Employees)
(According to NIMS regulations.)
Trial Period Two months from the start date of employment
Insurance Health insurance (MEXT Mutual Aid Association), Welfare Pension Insurance, Employment Insurance and Worker’s Accident Compensation Insurance. You will be automatically enrolled in these insurances when working conditions meet the requirements.
