Job Summary	Research on the electronic states for atomic-layer materials, magnetic/spintronic materials, and quantum materials using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, spin-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, and photoemission momentum microscopy.
Scope of Job Description Changes	Duties are subject to change within the scope of the Employee’s position.
Qualification	Applicants must have a PhD in the relevant field for the position, or expect to receive one before their start date. We are looking for a highly motivated researcher with good skills regarding angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy for atomic-layered materials, magnetic materials, and so on.
Starting Date	April 1st, 2026 or later
Term	One year
Contract Renewal Criteria / Maximum Employment Period	Renewal of the contract will be determined based on work performance, work attitude, progress of the work engaged in, workload at the end of the contract period, budget situation, and other factors. The maximum employment period shall not exceed five years. This may be subject to change because of amendments to the Working Regulations.
Work Place	National Institute for Materials Science, Sakura site (Tsukuba, Japan)
Scope of Work Location Changes	The scope of the change of place of work shall be limited to each of the Employer’s site, as well as other locations separately approved by the Employer.
Work Hours	7 hours 45 minutes a day, or Discretionary labor system *Deemed working hours when the discretionary labor system is applied are 8 hours and 15 minutes per day.
Holiday	Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, New Year Holidays, annual paid leave and other holidays as stipulated in the Working Regulations
Salary / Supply	344,860~410,460 JPY/month Fixed overtime pay included in monthly salary (Article 10, item 3 of the Salary Regulations for Fixed Term Employees) Commuting allowance is provided in case commuting distance exceeds 2 km, subject to a maximum cap.
Trial Period	Two months from the start date of employment
Insurance	Health insurance (MEXT Mutual Aid Association), Welfare Pension Insurance, Employment Insurance and Worker’s Accident Compensation Insurance. You will be automatically enrolled in these insurances when working Health insurance (MEXT Mutual Aid Association), Welfare Pension Insurance, Employment Insurance and Worker’s Accident Compensation Insurance. You will be automatically enrolled in these insurances when working conditions meet the requirements.
