2025.02.10
On December 12th, 2024, Research Center for Macromolecules and Biomaterials (RCMB, hereafter the Center) concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on interdepartmental collaboration and cooperation with the Faculty of Agriculture at Andalas University in Indonesia.
Andalas University is a famous university with a long tradition, having been established in Padang, Sumatra, Indonesia, in 1956. Indonesia is one of the world's leading agricultural powers, blessed with a warm tropical climate throughout the year, and the Faculty of Agriculture at Andalas University is a public research and educational institution that supports the core of this, covering a wide range of technical fields such as agriculture, soil science, agricultural technology, agricultural economics, and crop protection, and in addition to student education, it is also actively engaged in research and development of advanced technology and technology dissemination activities in the real world. The biomass produced in large quantities on the farm is expected to be used in a wider range of technical fields as a sustainable natural material, and the center is working on the development of environmentally friendly polymer and bio-materials that use biomass. Through the conclusion of this memorandum of understanding, we can expect to accelerate interdisciplinary research that combines materials science and agriculture, and to create new knowledge, by promoting personnel exchange and research between the two centers. Through this collaboration, the two centers will aim to achieve advanced agricultural technology that utilizes biomass, and will maximize synergy effects by combining various forms of cooperation that bring together the strengths of each other, and will continue to develop further.
