Work Description
Research and Development of Proton-Conductive Polymer Electrolyte Membranes
Scope of Work Description Change Duties are subject to change within the scope of the Employee’s position.
Qualification
The successful candidate(s) will engage in research and development of proton-conductive polymer electrolyte membranes for use in fuel cells and related applications. Applicants with an interest in automated and autonomous experimentation utilizing automated synthesis robots and information science are particularly welcome. Experience in polymer synthesis and/or electrochemical measurements is desirable.
The applicant should (or is expected to) have a Ph.D. degree.
Starting Date Any time on or after Aplil 2026 (negotiable)
Term One year from the date of appointment
Contract Renewal Criteria / Maximum Employment Period Renewal of the contract will be determined based on work performance, work attitude, progress of the work engaged in, workload at the end of the contract period, budget situation, and other factors. The maximum employment period shall not exceed 5 years. This may be subject to change because of amendments to the Working Regulations.
Work Place National Institute for Materials Science, Sengen-site (Tsukuba city, Ibaraki)
Scope of Work Location Changes The scope of the change of place of work shall be limited to each of the Employer’s site, as well as other locations separately approved by the Employer.
Work Hours 7 hours and 45 minutes per day (8:30–17:15), 5 days per week
Break time: 12:00–13:00
When the discretionary labor system is applied, the deemed working time is 8 hours and 15 minutes per day.
Holiday Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, New Year Holidays, annual paid leave and other holidays as stipulated in the Working Regulations.
Salary / Supply
Monthly salary from JPY 340,000 and above, including deemed overtime allowance (See Article 13-2 of the Salary Regulations for Fixed-Term Employees)
Trial Period Two months from the start date of employment
Insurance Health insurance (MEXT Mutual Aid Association), Welfare Pension Insurance, Employment Insurance and Worker’s Accident Compensation Insurance. You will be automatically enrolled in these insurances when working conditions meet the requirements.
