Job Summary
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team in the development of advanced polymer materials designed to promote material circulation and support a sustainable circular economy. The successful candidate will engage in cutting-edge research aimed at designing, synthesizing, characterizing, and evaluating polymer materials with a focus on recyclability, degradability, and resource efficiency.

Research Topics May Include:
  • Development of recyclable and upcyclable polymers
  • Design of dynamic covalent polymer networks and vitrimers
  • Chemical and mechanical recycling technologies
  • Polymer life-cycle analysis and sustainability assessment
  • Integration of digital and AI-based methods for material design
Scope of Job Description Changes Duties are subject to change within the scope of the Employee’s position.
Starting Date July 1st or later
Term 1 Year
(Possibly up to 5 Years with Annual Evaluation)
Contract Renewal Criteria / Maximum Employment Period Renewal of the contract will be determined based on work performance, work attitude, progress of the work engaged in, workload at the end of the contract period, budget situation, and other factors. The maximum employment period shall not exceed five (5) years. This may be subject to change because of amendments to the Working Regulations.
Work Place National Institute for Materials Science, Sengen-Site (Tsukuba City, Ibaraki)
Scope of Work Location Changes The scope of the change of place of work shall be limited to each of the Employer’s site, as well as other locations separately approved by the Employer.
Work Hours 7 hours 45 minutes a day (negotiable as the flex-time system)
Holiday Saturday, Sunday, and National Holidays
Salary / Supply
Supply followed by NIMS regulations. Commuting allowance and national insurance will also be covered.
Trial Period Two months from the start date of employment
Insurance Health insurance (MEXT Mutual Aid Association), Welfare Pension Insurance, Employment Insurance and Workers’ accident Compensation Insurance. You will be automatically enrolled in these insurances when working conditions meet the requirements.
