Work Description
A postdoctoral position on fundamental research of new solid-state ionic conductors with a particular focus on solid-state halide ion batteries. The candidate is expected to develop bulk ionic conductors with specific framework forming ionic conduction paths using different synthesis techniques to evaluate their ionic conducting properties.

Qualification
  • Doctoral degree or be expected to obtain it by the time of appointment.
  • Experience in the field of inorganic solid-state chemistry, such as oxide materials, is desirable, along with expertise in powder and single crystal growth techniques, as well as in X-ray structural analysis of inorganic solids.
Starting Date October 2025 or later (negotiable)
Term 1 year (renewable up to 5 years with annual evaluation)
Contract Renewal Criteria / Maximum Employment Period Renewal of the contract will be determined based on work performance, work attitude, progress of the work engaged in, workload at the end of the contract period, budget situation, and other factors. The maximum employment period shall not exceed 5 years. This may be subject to change because of amendments to the Working Regulations.
Work Place National Institute for Materials Science, Namiki-Site (Tsukuba City, Ibaraki)
Scope of Work Location Changes The scope of the change of place of work shall be limited to each of the Employer’s site, as well as other locations separately approved by the Employer.
Work Hours 7 hours 45 minutes a day, 5 days a week.
Deemed working hours when the discretionary labor system is applied are 8 hours and 15 minutes per day.
Holiday Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, New Year Holidays, annual paid leave and other holidays as stipulated in the Working Regulations.
Salary / Supply
  • Monthly salary: 317,570 JPY – 376,380 JPY (to be determined in accordance with the Salary Regulations for Fixed-Term Employees).
  • The monthly salary includes fixed overtime pay (as stipulated in Article 10, Item 3 of the Salary Regulations for Fixed-Term Employees).
Trial Period Two months from the start date of employment
Insurance Health insurance (MEXT Mutual Aid Association), Welfare Pension Insurance, Employment Insurance and Worker’s Accident Compensation Insurance. You will be automatically enrolled in these insurances when working conditions meet the requirements.
