Work Description | Research on fabrication and application of porous polymer materials

Scope of Work Description Change | Duties are subject to change within the scope of the Employee’s position. |
Qualification | Applicant should (or is expected to) have a Ph.D. degree in the field of polymer science. Experience research and characterization of polymeric materials is preferred. Applicant should have a sufficient communication skill either in Japanese or English. |
Starting Date | Nov. 1st, 2025 or Later (Depends on the schedule of acceptance procedures in NIMS) |
Term | Termination will be at the end of March 2026. After that, it depends on the research budget of each year. Renewals and extensions are possible for up to 5 years, subject to annual review of research activity. (However, the maximum period may be subject to change due to revisions in employment regulations, etc.) |
Contract Renewal Criteria / Maximum Employment Period | Renewal of the contract will be determined based on work performance, work attitude, progress of the work engaged in, workload at the end of the contract period, budget situation, and other factors. The maximum employment period shall not exceed five (5) years. This may be subject to change because of amendments to the Working Regulations. |

Scope of Work Location Changes | The scope of the change of place of work shall be limited to each of the Employer’s site, as well as other locations separately approved by the Employer. |
Work Hours | 7 hours 45 minutes a day (negotiable as the flex-time system) Deemed working hours when the discretionary labor system is applied are 8 hours and 15 minutes per day. |
Holiday | Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, New Year Holidays, annual paid leave and other holidays as stipulated in the Working Regulations. |
Salary / Supply | Salary will be determined in accordance with the Salary Regulations for Fixed Term Employees of NIMS, taking into consideration skills, experience, and other factors. Commuting allowance and national insurance will also be covered. Fixed overtime pay included in monthly salary(Article 10, item 3 of the Salary Regulations for Fixed Term Employees) We set a trial period (Article 37, item 2 of the Salary Regulations for Fixed Term Employees) Two months from the start date of employment |

Insurance | Health insurance (MEXT Mutual Aid Association), Welfare Pension Insurance, Employment Insurance and Worker’s Accident Compensation Insurance. You will be automatically enrolled in these insurances when working conditions meet the requirements. |
