Projects selected for the BRIDGE initiative "Materials Startup Incubation Promotion Project" for Fiscal Year 2023

The National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), as the research promotion organization for the Bridge to Research and Development and Society 5.0 program (BRIDGE), has selected projects for the 2023 fiscal year under the BRIDGE initiative "Materials Startup Incubation Promotion Project".

Overview:

NIMS is the research promotion organization for the BRIDGE program and has finalized its selection of projects for the "Materials Startup Incubation Promotion Project" for fiscal year 2023. This project is integrated with the individual theme (1) "Support for Creation of a Materials Unicorn Reserve" under Subtheme C "Creation of a Materials Unicorn Reserve" of SIP's third phase project "Building an Ecosystem for Materials Commercialization Innovation and Development". By developing and utilizing data-driven research and development assets, such as application-specific apps created through this initiative, research and development toward commercialization for established startups and those just beginning business.
 
 
The call for proposals for the "Materials Startup Incubation Promotion Project" was open from July 19 (Wednesday) to August 1 (Tuesday), 2023, targeting proposals that passed the written review under the individual theme (1) "Support for Creation of a Materials Unicorn Reserve" of Subtheme C. We received a total of five applications (universities: 1, private industry: 4). Following evaluations by a committee of external experts, we decided to select a total of two of these projects (universities: 1, private industry: 1).
