#Fixed Term#Researcher
Field or Position NIMS Postdoctoral Researcher (Electrocatalysis and Applied Mathematics)
Number of Positions A few people
Affiliation Research Center for Energy and Environmental Materials
New Team of Mathematical Catalysis Research (Tentative)
Work Description
We develop new electrocatalysts using microkinetics to identify new design strategies. In addition to applicants interested in half reactions such as the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) or oxygen evolution reaction (OER), those interested in device performance such as PEM electrolyzers are also welcome. Possible research directions include, but are not limited to:
  1. Development of new experimental or theoretical techniques to determine rate constants.
  2. Developing models which allow prediction of activity, selectivity, stability, and other properties from rate constants.
  3. Experimental verification of microkinetic models.
  4. Developing better materials based on kinetic hypotheses.
All proposals related to understanding the kinetics of catalytic reactions will be given consideration. The ideal applicant will be excited to work at the interface of experiments, applied mathematics, and data science, and energize the new research team.
