Research Summary A post doc position on the thin film fabrication for 3-dimentional magnetic recording media and/or permanent magnet with less rare earth element and their magnetic and microstructure characterizations. Background on magnetism and magnetic materials is required. Experiences on the sputtering and/or microstructure characterization by TEM are desirable. The candidate must have a strong motivation in learning TEM observation.

Duties are subject to change within the scope of the Employee's position.
Qualification Ph.D. in materials science, applied physics or physics
Starting Date September 2024 (negotiable)
Term one year (renewable up to 5 years with annual evaluation)
Renewal of the contract will be determined based on work performance, work attitude, progress of the work engaged in, workload at the end of the contract period, budget situation, and other factors.
Work Place National Institute for Materials Science, Sengen site (Tsukuba city, Ibaraki, Japan)

The scope of the change of place of work shall be limited to each of the Employer's site, as well as other locations separately approved by the Employer.
Work Hours 7 hours 45 minutes a day, 5 days a week
Deemed working hours when the discretionary labor system is applied are 8 hours and 15 minutes per day.
Holiday Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, New Year Holidays, annual paid leave and other holidays as stipulated in the Working Regulations.
Salary / Supply To be determined in accordance with the Salary Regulations for Fixed Term Employees

Fixed overtime pay included in monthly salary (Article 10, item 3 of the Salary Regulations for Fixed term Employees)
Trial Period Two months from the start date of employment
Insurance Health insurance (MEXT Mutual Aid Association), Welfare Pension Insurance, Employment Insurance and Worker's accident Compensation Insurance. You will be automatically enrolled in these insurances when working conditions meet the requirements.
