NIMS Sakura site, located adjacent to Tsukuba Technopark Sakura in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, includes research facilities that provide a world-class high magnetic field environment and a hydrogen environment materials testing laboratory that supports new energy research.

By Train

From Tsukuba Station (TX20, Tsukuba Express Line)

NIMS Shuttle Bus

Take Exit A3 and proceed to "Corporate Bus Stop B" located in the Tsukuba Station Pickup/Drop-off Parking Lot, next to Tsukuba Center Bus Terminal. NIMS Shuttle Bus is free of charge.

TSUKU BUS 'Oda Shuttle'

Take Exit A3 to board a TSUKU BUS* 'Oda Shuttle' at Tsukuba Center Bus Terminal (Bus Stop No.3), and get off at 'Harukazedai (#15)'.
A 1-minute walk from the bus stop. (Travel time: 23 minutes) * Tsukuba City Community Bus

From Arakawaoki Station (JR Joban Line)

Kanto Railway Bus
From West Exit, take a Kanto Railway bus bound for 'Tsukuba Center' at Bus Stop No.4, and get off at the last stop 'Tsukuba Center'. (Travel time: 30 minutes)
From Tsukuba Center Bus Terminal, take TSUKU BUS 'Oda Shuttle' or NIMS Shuttle Bus. 

By Car (Using Highway)

From 'Sakura-Tsuchiura Interchange' on Joban Expressway, take 'Tsukuba' direction exit to Route 354. Turn right at 'Sasagi' intersection, the second traffic light from the highway exit, and go straight for about 7 km on 'Higashi Odori Avenue'. Turn right at 'Shibasaki' intersection, the 18th traffic light from Sasagi intersection, and go straight for about 1 km on Shirakashi-dori street (passing 3 traffic lights). You will find NIMS Sakura site entrance on your left. * NIMS Sakura site is located approximately one block from the intersection with 7-Eleven.

By Highway Bus

From Tokyo Station

 From Tokyo Station Yaesu South Exit, Take an Express Bus bound for 'Tsukuba' at Highway Bus Stop No.2, and get off at 'Tsukuba Center'. (Travel time: 70 minutes)
From Tsukuba Center Bus Terminal, take TSUKU BUS 'Oda Shuttle' or NIMS Shuttle Bus.

From Tokyo International Airport (Haneda Airport)

From Bus Stop No.12 (Terminal 1), 13 (Terminal 2), or 9 (Terminal 3), board a bus bound for 'Tsukuba Center', and get off at the last stop 'Tsukuba Center'. (Travel time: 120 minutes)
From Tsukuba Center Bus Terminal, take TSUKU BUS 'Oda Shuttle' or NIMS Shuttle Bus.

From Narita International Airport

Take a 'AIRPORT LINER NATT'S' express bus bound for 'Tsukuba/Tsuchiura' from Bus Stop No.8 (Terminal 1), No. 10 (Terminal 2), or No. 11 (Terminal 3), and get off at 'Tsukuba Center'. (Travel time: 60 minutes)
From Tsukuba Center Bus Terminal, take TSUKU BUS 'Oda Shuttle' or NIMS Shuttle Bus. 

Entrance Procedures

All visitors to NIMS are required to complete entrance procedures at each site.
The reception desk is located at the guard office near the entrance. We appreciate your cooperation.

NIMS Shuttle Bus

NIMS operates free 'NIMS Shuttle Bus' service for convenient transportation between 3 sites.
Some of the buses go via TX Tsukuba Station and the University of Tsukuba.
From TX Tsukuba Station, take Exit A3 and proceed to "Corporate Bus Stop B" located in the Tsukuba Station Pickup/Drop-off Parking Lot, next to Tsukuba Center Bus Terminal.
