Research Summary Develop a program utilizing the phase-field method to replicate the nanostructure formation process in FePt-based magnetic recording media, supporting the research and development of novel magnetic recording media.

Duties are subject to change within the scope of the Employee’s position.
Qualification
  • Applicants should (or are expected to) have a Ph.D. degree 
  • We welcome individuals with experience in microstructure simulation of materials using programming languages such as Fortran, C, C++, or Python.
  • Applications are encouraged from individuals without experience in numerical calculations but with research experience in magnetic recording media, and who are enthusiastic about engaging in the microstructure simulations. (Support for model development will be provided.)
  • Applicants must be capable of conducting research-related communication in Japanese or English.
Starting Date June 1st, 2024 or Later
Term 1 year

Renewal of the contract will be determined based on work performance, work attitude, progress of the work engaged in, workload at the end of the contract period, budget situation, and other factors. The maximum employment period shall not exceed five (5) years. This may be subject to change because of amendments to the Working Regulations.
Work Place National Institute for Materials Science, Sengen-site (Tsukuba city, Ibaraki)

The scope of the change of place of work shall be limited to each of the Employer’s site, as well as other locations separately approved by the Employer.
Work Hours 7 hours 45 minutes a day (negotiable as the flex-time system)
Holiday Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays, New Year holidays, annual paid leave, and other holidays as stipulated in the NIMS Regulations
Salary / Supply
Monthly salary 317,570  ~ 410,460 yen (To be determined in accordance with the Salary Regulations for Fixed Term Employees)
*Fixed overtime pay included in monthly salary (Article 10, item 3 of the Salary Regulations for Fixed Term Employees)
*National insurance is included.
Trial Period 2 months from the start date of employment
Insurance Health insurance (MEXT Mutual Aid Association), Welfare Pension Insurance, Employment Insurance and Worker’s Accident Compensation Insurance. You will be automatically enrolled in these insurances when working conditions meet the requirements.
