President and two vice presidents of Université de Rennes, France visit NIMS

President and two vice presidents (in charge of International Affairs and European Projects) of Université de Rennes, France visited NIMS.
Prof. David Alis (President of the University of Rennes), Prof. Muriel Hissler ( Vice President in charge of international affairs, the University of Rennes ), and Prof. Sébastien Le Picard ( Vice President in charge of European projects, the University of Rennes) visited NIMS on 6th February in order to further strengthen the inter-institutional cooperation with us.
The University of Rennes is located in Brittany (France) and was founded in January 2023 with the merger of the former University of Rennes I and University of Rennes II. In 2010, NIMS concluded the agreement for an inter-institutional collaboration with the University of Rennes (at that time, the University of Rennes I). Since then, NIMS has deepened exchanges through the joint organization of international workshops and developed joint research, and both institutions have published more than 60 co-authored papers to date.
At the meeting between President Prof. David Alis of the University of Rennes and NIMS executive vice-president Dr. Takayoshi Sasaki and others, President Alis introduced on the new University of Rennes, they exchanged information among the two institutions, and discussed ways to strengthen collaboration in the near future. This was followed by an introduction to research facilities related to functional materials, such as the High-pressure Research Facility, the Mass Spectrometry Facility, and the High-speed Laser Spectroscopy Facility by Director Dr. Naoki OHASHI (Research Center for Functional Materials).

In addition, the exchange with French researchers were held at the NIMS-CNRS-Saint-Gobain International Joint Research Center, and opinions were exchanged regarding closer collaboration and its further development in the near future. At that center, Professor Jean-Francois Halet of the University of Rennes is staying as a long-term visitor in order to promote joint research. With the visit of President Prof. Alis (the University of Rennes), NIMS expects the further development of collaboration with the University of Rennes.
