Technical staff from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia visit NIMS

On February 26, 2024, 18 faculty members and technical staff from University Industry Research Laboratory (UIRL), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) visited NIMS to see several groups of the state-of-the-art equipment and laboratory management methods at NIMS as part of a technical staff training program.

Dr. Zaidah Binti Rahmat, Senior Lecturer and Manager of the Chemicals Management Unit, UIRL, UTM gave an opening remark. And then NIMS staff provided an overview of NIMS, an introduction to NIMS laboratory safety management, and NIMS Open Facility and the ARIM project to the group.

After that, the group visited the TEM sample preparation equipment, the aberration-corrected electron microscopy, and the bioanalysis-related systems at Sengen site, and the 800 MHz wide-bore NMR equipment at Sakura site, and actively asked questions to the engineers in charge at each place they visited, showing great interest in the shared equipment and management of NIMS.

It is hoped that the group’s visit will be an opportunity to expand the network with Malaysia, which is making remarkable progress in science and technology.
