NIMS signed an ICGP agreement with Korea University
2023.05.23 Update
NIMS concluded an International Cooperative Graduate Program (ICGP) agreement with Korea University, South Korea as of 11th May, 2023.
Korea University (K) has 20,047 undergraduate students, 9,525 graduate students, and 4,273 professors, and is known as one of the three most prestigious universities in Korea (SKY), along with Seoul National University (S) and Yonsei University (Y).
Prior to the conclusion of this agreement, a memorandum of understanding on international joint research was signed with Korea University in February of this year, and preparations for the start of international joint research had begun.
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering of Korea University, which is center player for the implementation of this ICGP agreement, operates education and research programs to foster creative Ph.D. course students in the fields of information technology, nanotechnology, biotechnology, and environment and energy technology. Also, this department conducts a wide range of research in materials science and engineering, including analysis of chemical and physical properties of materials, design of new materials based on quantitative structure-property relationships, synthesis of new materials, and development of new processing technologies.
By accepting doctoral students from the department of materials science of that University to NIMS and supervising them for a certain period of time, it is expected that NIMS will foster the creative Ph.D. course students who will lead international breakthroughs and have a greater opportunity of creating cutting-edge materials.
