2023 JAPAN-TAIWAN nanomaterial and biomedicine workshop, organized by research center for macromolecules and biomaterials, NIMS (Japan) and co-organized by center of applied nanomedicine, National Cheng Kung University (Taiwan), was held at WPI-MANA Auditorium in NIMS Namiki site on May 15, 2023.

Recently, it continued to become clear that the nanoparticles such as Membrane Vesicle (MV) secreted from the intestinal bacteria and/or oral cavity, and Exosome Extracellular Vesicle (EEV) released from human cells can influence human health. Therefore, the present bilateral workshop was held to bring together experts from NIMS and the Center for Applied Nanomedicine of the National Cheng Kung University to share the technological advances regarding the MV, EEV and nanomedical technologies, and to accelerate the international joint research.

This workshop was attended by 87 participants (including 11 overseas residents), who engaged in actively discussions on the latest results of each research center. Furthermore, it was a good opportunity to exchange information on how to actively exchange young researchers between both sides, and to accelerate bilateral international joint research led by researchers from the two research centers who are already engaged in international joint research.
It is expected that the close joint research between researchers in the two centers will accelerate to develop the nano-medical technologies in the near future, with proposals to hold information exchange seminars bilaterally on an alternating yearly basis from next year.
