2023.06.01 Update

The 12th International Workshop on Spin Caloritronics was held at the Tsukuba Center for Institutes and NIMS in Tsukuba, Japan, from May 22 to 25, 2023.

Organized by Center for Magnetism and Spintronics Materials Research, NIMS
Co-organized by Tohoku University

Spin Caloritronics is a fusion field among Spintronics, Heat Transport, and Thermoelectric properties, and is known as a field that has made rapid progress since the discovery of the Spin Seebeck effect which is a spin current generation phenomenon caused by heat flow, in 2008 in Japan.
The 1st International Workshop on Spincarolitronics was held in the Netherlands in 2009, and its 12th International Workshop was held in Japan for four days from 22nd May, 2023.

In the workshop, 36 distinguished researchers from around the world gave invited talks, and a total of 90 participants (including 50 overseas participants) from 15 countries (the United States, France, Austria, and Germany), including the invited speakers, presented high-level research results and actively exchanged their opinions at the venue.
The workshop was mainly held at the Tsukuba Center for Institutes, but on the second day, all participants moved to the NIMS Sengen site for the "NIMS Session," where they were introduced to NIMS main research activities and had a chance to experience the excellent research environment at NIMS through a Lab Tour in the NIMS Sengen site to researchers from around the world.

The successful conclusion of this international workshop also provided NIMS with great confidence of its commitment to strengthen the academic collaboration and demonstrate the international leadership in the field of Spin Carolitronics.
