President and Vice President of the University of Newcastle (Australia) and a NIMS Alumni member visit NIMS

On October 4, Prof. Alex Zelinsky, President, and Prof. Alex Zelinsky, Vice President of the University of Newcastle, which has several campuses in New South Wales, Australia, visited NIMS. They were accompanied by Prof. Ajyayan Vinu, a former NIMS researcher and current professor at the university.

During the meeting with NIMS President Dr. Hono and other executives, they exchanged opinions regarding the opportunity to strengthen cooperation with a view to sending students to NIMS in the future. Afterwards, they toured representative labs of NIMS, such as the High Pressure Research Facility and Sialon Phosphors.

With a student population of approximately 20,000, the university is ranked 13th in the QS World University Rankings 2024 for Australian universities, and is also a university that focuses on the social implementation of technology with the vision of " becoming a world-leading university for the community”.

It is expected that this visit will lead to the acceptance of students from UoN and promote the exchange of young researchers between two institutes.
