Rector and former Rector of University of
Pardubice, Czech Republic visit NIMS
2023.04.07 Update
On the occasion of the inauguration of the new Rector, the Rector of University of Pardubice (Prof. Libor Čapek) and the former Rector (Prof. Jiří Málek) visited NIMS on the afternoon of Monday, 3rd April and the afternoon of 5th Wednesday, April.
NIMS has been accepting the PhD course students from UP for a long term (more than 6 months but less than 1 year) and promoting collaborative research within NIMS since the conclusion of International Cooperative Graduate Program (ICGP) agreement with Pardubice University in the spring of 2014.
In the 9 years after the agreement was signed, NIMS and University of Pardubice have published 11 co-authored papers in international journals.
On the afternoon of 3rd April, NIMS researchers gathered at the NIMS Namiki site to listen to presentations by the former and new rectors and PhD course students from University of Pardubice.
■ Information of the speakers’ names and the titles of their presentations
After a presentation from University of Pardubice side, one hour-long exchange of views on the future development of the collaboration took place.
On the afternoon of the 5th April, a NIMS laboratory tour was held.
The NIMS researchers who introduced their research facilities and recent research topics are as follows
Dr. Tadakatsu Ohkubo,
Deputy managing director, research center for magnetic and spintronic materials
Introduced research topic: "Atomic scale characterization by atom probe tomography"
Dr. Daiju Tsuya,
Unit leader, nanofabrication unit, materials fabrication and analysis platform
Introduced research topic: Regarding NIMS nanofabrication facility
Dr. Hiroaki Sukegawa,
Group leader, spintronics group, research center for magnetic and spintronic materials
Introduced research topic: "Development of magnetic multilayer devices toward non-volatile memory applications"
Dr. Takashi Takeda,
Group leader, advanced phosphor group, research center for electronic and optical materials
Introduced research topic: "Advanced phosphors by high-throughput experiments and informatics"
Dr. Takuya Masuda,
Field director, battery and cell materials field, GREEN
Introduced research topic: Regarding NIMS battery research platform
Dr. Takashi Taniguchi (NIMS fellow, Executive vice president (research))
Managing director, MANA
Introduced research topic: "Single crystals growth under high pressure for quantum applications"
Based on the network with NIMS researchers established through the two-day visit, new joint research is expected to start and lead to publication in first class international journals before too long.
