NIMS Junior Researcher
Quantum Device Engineering Group

I have been working as a NIMS junior researcher in MANA’s Quantum Device Engineering Group since June 2022 while enrolled in a Master’s program at the University of Tsukuba. I am very happy to have been given an opportunity to conduct research at NIMS despite my status as a student.

My research is focused on transistors. A transistor is a type of semiconductor that conducts switching and other functions and is essential in our daily lives. Specifically, I am evaluating the operation of organic transistors with special outputs and developing memory using these aspects. I am conducting my daily research with an interest in how the functions emerge from the various manufacturing processes of transistors.

The reason I came to MANA was the NIMS tours that the university laboratory regularly held. During the tour, the group in which I am currently enrolled gave an explanation about the development of organic semiconductors. The content was more applied than my previous measurement research on organic semiconductor materials, and I was interested in how semiconductor materials are used in devices. I also thought that being part of research institutes as a student was a valuable experience; thus, I decided to conduct research at NIMS.

Now, it has been about half a year, but I have gained a wealth of knowledge in terms of research and other aspects, and I am glad I came. I am still a newcomer, but I would like to grow further in the excellent environment of NIMS.

On my days off, I enjoy spending time with my beloved dog. Looking at my dog happily playing, I cannot help but smile and feel happy. 😀
