Rapid safety screening with small batteries
Thermal runaway behavior can be quantitatively analyzed using lab-scale small cells that are less than one-fiftieth the size of conventional cells, requiring only several hundred milligrams of electrode materials and several hundred microliters of electrolyte. This protocol greatly simplifies and accelerates quantitative safety evaluation, enabling rapid and low-cost screening of how material composition, cell design, and operating conditions affect thermal runaway behavior.
