About the “Protocols”

In the Center for Advanced Battery Collaboration (ABC) , “protocols” refer to integrated methodological frameworks that support battery design and development. They comprise simulation technologies, advanced characterization methods, high‑throughput experimentation, computational science, machine learning, and data science.

Developed through the JST COI‑NEXT program, these protocols are offered as services to external users, enabling the ABC to function as a national platform for battery R&D. Their use facilitates shorter development cycles, reduced R&D costs, and contributes to strengthening Japan’s battery industry.

“JST” is an abbreviation for the Japan Science and Technology Agency. “COI‑NEXT” stands for the Program on Open Innovation Platforms for Industry‑academia Co‑creation.

You Can Use our Protocols with Confidence

You do not need to be a registered participant of the ABC Center or an employee of a participating institution to use the protocol. It is open to anyone interested in applying it to their research or development activities.

Contracts for collaborative research and related work are arranged through NIMS’s long‑established and trusted framework. Information and results obtained through such collaborations are, in principle, shared only with the user and are not disclosed to participating institutions or individuals outside the responsible NIMS personnel.

    Depending on the protocol, certain activities may be handled by registered members of the ABC Center at participating universities.
    With the user’s permission, outcomes may be published in academic journals or presented at conferences.

If confidential information needs to be shared during the contract‑review stage, we can conclude a Non‑Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and proceed with discussions under appropriate confidentiality.
