For crystalline solid materials with large available databases, it has been demonstrated that virtual screening combining computational chemistry and data science can accelerate materials development. On the other hand, for electrolyte materials, a major challenge lies in the lack of sufficient property data necessary for rapid and efficient new material discovery using data-driven approaches.
At the Automated Robotic Experiments Team, we actively utilize automated experimental techniques to enable high-throughput formulation and evaluation of electrolytes, allowing us to rapidly acquire large volumes of experimental data. These comprehensive datasets are provided to the Protocol Development Team, contributing to the early realization of battery analysis and development design protocols. In addition, by establishing data-scientific material discovery methodologies that go beyond traditional trial-and-error approaches relying on researchers' experience and intuition, we aim to significantly reduce the time and cost required for new material discovery and dramatically accelerate the development of novel electrolytes.
