Layered Nanochemistry Group

About Layered Nanochemistry Group

In the Layered Nanochemistry Group, we are developing synthetic/functionalization methods for layered inorganic compounds like clay minerals and related low-dimensional nanomaterials including zeolites. Specifically, we are aiming at the development of high-performance, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly materials alternative to existing commodities and industrial products. We also try to synthesize key materials for realizing hydrogen society and reducing greenhouse gases emissions.

Specialized Research Field

Development of synthetic/functionalization methods

By either decomposition and re-crystallization of layered titanates or modification of the frameworks/nanospaces of layered silicates and zeolites, we design nanoporous materials with enhanced adsorption, catalytic, and optical functions based on 1-to-3 dimensional (electronic)structures.

Creation of unknown/unexplored compounds by utilizing low-dimensional nanospaces

By utilizing nanospaces as templates or scaffolds, we design/stabilized unexplored molecular species showing a good catalytic and optical properties higher than existing nanoparticles and clusters.
