Innovative Polymer Electrolyte Design Group

Research

By molecular design of concentrated polymer brushes and ionic liquids, we will develop multiuse polymer electrolytes, which can be applied to polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells operating under nonhumidified and moderate-temperature conditions as well as electric double layer capacitors, rechargeable batteries and solar cells.

A solid type of electrolyte is developed by three-dimensionally self-assembling hybrid particles, in a crystal, with the concentrated brush of ionic-liquid polymers containing a small amount of ionic liquid. The operation of a bipolar lithium-ion rechargeable battery is successfully demonstrated.
