Molecular-scale understanding of the electrode interface

The Interface between an electrode and the electrolyte solution (electrode interface) plays an important role in electrochemical energy conversion and storage devices, such as fuel cells, capacitors, and secondary batteries. However, because of its complexity, the microscopic detail of the electrode interface is yet to be understood. We develop modeling and electronic structure methods for the interface, in order to understand the atomic structure, dynamics, and electron transfer at the electrode interface in electrochemical systems.
