EMPA Office

(Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology)

About office

This office has been established at EMPA in Dubendorf, Switzerland, since July, 2010, for the collaboration and interaction between EMPA and NIMS.

NIMS concluded Comprehensive Collaborative Agreement (CCA) with EMPA in 2007 in order to accelerate the cooperation in the field of materials science and technology and also the exchange of scientific information and expertise.

Taking an opportunity of establishment of the office, NIMS appointed Professor Louis Schlapbach, former Director of EMPA, as the Deputy Director-General of NIMS GREEN (Global Research Center for Environment and Energy based on Nanomaterials Science) in July, 2010, and consequently the collaboration has been further strengthened.

EMPA office is also functioning as an important base for the promotion of research cooperation between NIMS and other European institutes.
