About the Laboratory
This laboratory was established in the campus of Tianjin University (TU) based on the contract for a joint research center which was concluded on September 29, 2011 between Tianjin University and NIMS.
Aiming to create a collaboration to develop advanced functional materials for energy and environment utilizing the latest materials science technologies, both parties are promoting a research cooperation by using facilities offered by TU and exchanging researchers.
It is also having an important part to play in scientific exchanges and research activities with Chinese researchers.
This laboratory is the first full-scale joint research center NIMS has ever established in an overseas institute.
About Tianjin University (TU)
In 1951, following the merger with Hebei Institute of Technology, Peiyang University was renamed Tianjin University.
Tianjin is one of the four cities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chongqing) governed as a direct controlled municipality. TU has been a National Key University since 1959 and now became a top-class prestigious university in China and doing a multidisciplinary research not only sciences.
The number of students is 27,000 and faculty member is 4,327. (as of May 31st, 2011)
