Functional Nanomaterials Group
In the Functional Nanomaterials Group, we are developing new nanomaterials with diverse composition and structure, and exploring various promsing functionalities such as redox activity, catalytic activity, and ionic conduction property, etc. Specifically, we selectively and efficiently synthesize nanotubes and nanosheets that have tunable metal composition, charge density, and surface adsorption ability. By a rational control of electron/ion transfer reactions on atomic or molecular scale, we are aiming for high-capacity active materials, high-performance non-precious metal electrocatalysts and high ion-conductive solid electrolytes or membranes, etc. In the process, we are making full use of advanced techniques such as sophisticated electrochemical analysis, and atomic resolution electron microscopy with in situ characterization/manipulation capability.
