"NIMS-MPI Workshop on Materials Aspects of Novel Quantum Systems" was held from Tuesday, November 18 to Friday, November 21 at the Auditorium of the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Namiki Site.
The second Workshop on Materials Aspects of Novel Quantum Systems (MANQS) was held at NIMS, following the inaugural event in 2023. This year, it was co-organized as a joint workshop by NIMS and MPI-FKF.
Four keynote speakers, Alannah Hallas(UBC, Canada), Hiroshi Kageyama (Kyoto University, Japan), Jun Sung Kim (POSTECH, Korea), Takao Mori (NIMS, Japan) delivered lectures and presented the latest findings in the field.
On the second day, the program featured presentations by 13 speakers and a laboratory tour. The third day included talks by 14 speakers as well as a poster session. On the final day, after six presentations, an excursion was organized. Over the course of the four-day program, in addition to the scientific sessions, participants actively engaged in free and lively exchanges at events such as the welcome dinner on the first day, the reception, and the final-day excursion.
The workshop provided a platform for a wide range of presentations and vigorous discussions on topics including the development of new materials in quantum and functional materials research, sample synthesis, and novel physical properties. It served as an opportunity to generate ideas for future advances in quantum and functional materials, and to foster the development of new collaborative research networks.
