Advancing Materials Research through High Magnetic Fields and Cryogenic Environments

Welcome to the High Magnetic Field Characterization Unit.

As part of the Materials Creation and Characterization Platform within the Technology Development and Shared Facilities Division at NIMS, the Unit provides advanced physical property measurements under extreme conditions using high magnetic fields and liquid helium. We support the research activities of scientists and engineers both in Japan and internationally.
From fundamental studies utilizing high magnetic field environments to applied research and advanced characterization, we accommodate a wide spectrum of research needs. Whether you are exploring the use of high magnetic field facilities for the first time or seeking specialized and sophisticated measurement support, our team is committed to providing tailored assistance.

強磁場計測ユニットとは

The High Magnetic Field Characterization Unit provides comprehensive research support through a broad range of measurement techniques, including electrical, magnetic, optical, and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) measurements, enabled by superconducting and other high-field magnet systems.
Our facilities serve diverse material systems such as semiconductors, magnetic materials, superconductors, nanomaterials, quantum materials, battery materials, and catalysts. By leveraging high magnetic field and cryogenic environments, we enable the acquisition of critical information on electronic states, spin states, and local structures that are often inaccessible through conventional methods.
