Development of Novel Functions and Phenomena Based on Our Original Frontier Molecules
The common and requisite core scientific technique in the Frontier Molecules Group is development of functional molecular materials by means of organic synthesis. We aim to advance sensor and environmental power generation functions by utilizing newly synthesized pi-conjugated molecules, dimensionally regulated molecular/polymeric materials that change dynamically in response to external stimuli, such as small molecules, light, heat, presurre, etc. In this regard, we elucidate their structure, physical properties, and dynamics, and achieve selective transport and strage of specific ions and small molecules, and stability\shape control of droplets. We also explore novel physical properties that emerge in response to two-dimensional geometrical structures consisting of dynamic bonding and dynamic higher-order structural transformations.
Potential applications from those uniquely developed molecular materials would be towards:
security,
photo-memory,
electret-based mechanoelectric generators towards bio- and medical applications,
sensors and adsorbents (gases, alcohols, water content) for industry and safety,
not limited above examples.
