How to apply?

| STEP1 | Submit "Support Request Form" ~ Usage consultation |
Download the "Support Request Form" and submit to; Electron Microscopy Unit's Office <tem[at]nims.go.jp>  Support Request Form (MS Word) /  Support Request Form (PDF) |
| STEP2 | User registration |
Register as a user on the appropriate online system. The detailed procedures will be sent by e-mail from the staff after the usage consultation.

| STEP3 | Subject application ~ The result notification |
Once you complete the user registration, move on to the subject application. You will receive the result notification by e-mail. |
| STEP4 | Start using the equipments |
Available for use the equipments according to the type of usage, license, and the reservation policy. |
| STEP5 | Billing |
The usage fee will be noticed by the unit office. |
| STEP6 | The usage finished |
The usage of the machines is closed at the end of each fiscal year. |
| STEP7 | User's report | Submit the "ARIM user's report" (will be opened) for ARIM and NIMS internal users, and a brief report (closed) for NOF users. |
Types of usage and licenses
| Usage Types | Overviews | Details |

| Normal Usage | Equipment Operation by Users | Equipment is operated by the users themselves. Data analysis is also carried out by users. |
| Operation Training | Equipment Operation with Technical Assistance | Users receive operation training from technical staff on how to operate the equipment. Once users can operate equipment safely by their selves, they are granted a license, and their type of use is shifted to "Normal Usage" or "Technical Support". |
| Technical Support | Equipment Operation with Technical Assistance | Users who can already operate the equipment themselves use it with partial support from technical staff. It may not be available depending on your request. |
| Technical Surrogate | Operation on behalf of Users | Based on the request, the technical staff of the unit conducts experiments, measurements, and analyses. |
