Engineering Sciences: Subprogram in Materials Science and Engineering is jointly operated by National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) and Degree Programs in Pure and Applied Sciences, University of Tsukuba.

From February 2022, entry to "Degree Programs in Materials Innovation" has become available.

    NIMS Open House will be held on 31 May, 2026 - an in-person opportunity for university students and prospective students to learn about NIMS, as well as exhibitions lab tours by each research center. You'll meet NIMS professors, current students and find out which of NIMS student programs fits your career. The event is in Japanese, but many staff are available in English.     2024 Online Open Campus, Degree Programs in Pure and Applied Sciences
    Information on admissions exams, curriculum, introductions of research fields. Introductory videos are available to help you think about going on to a Master's or Doctoral degree.

National Institute for Materials Science has student programs such as "NIMS Internship“ and "NIMS Joint Graduate School Program”. Many students use our programs to conduct advanced research under the supervision of NIMS researchers, and to obtain postgraduate degrees with financial support.
