Honorary Professor Hideo Hosono of Tokyo Institute of Technology joined MANA as a NIMS Distinguished Fellow on April 1, 2020.
Professor Hosono is a world-renowned researcher in the field of materials science known for the development of amorphous oxide semiconductor IGZO-TFTs, which are widely used to drive pixels in flat panel screens for smart phones and OLED (organic light emitting diode) TVs. He is also known for the discovery of iron-based high-temperature superconductors, the creation of room-temperature stable electrides and their application to ammonia synthesis catalysts. He leads the newly established Electro-Active Materials team in MANA.
