Wataru Namiki, NIMS Postdoctoral Researcher received "Young Scientist Presentation Award" by The Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP).

"Young Scientist Presentation Award" is designed to recognize young JSAP members for their outstanding contributed oral presentations during JSAP Spring and Autumn Meetings which would contribute to the development of the field of applied physics.

Physical reservoir computing is an artificial intelligence approach that is attracting attention for the realization of edge computing and Society 5.0 due to its small learning cost. NIMS postdoctoral researcher Wataru Namiki has developed an ion-gating physical reservoir device that can utilize the magnetization vector manipulation of magnetite thin film using redox reactions induced by insertion and desertion of lithium ions for physical reservoir computing. In the conference, Dr. Namiki demonstrated that low power consumption and high information processing capability were achieved by harnessing such nonlinear magnetization vector manipulation for reservoir computing.
