This program is designed for students who wish to obtain a degree by taking full advantage of the excellent research environment at NIMS while receiving financial support. Kitaura is currently a faculty member at Hokkaido University, and students in this program can pursue their Ph.D. at NIMS as students at Hokkaido University.
Ph.D. students from world-class graduate schools can join NIMS to conduct collaborative research, which will be included in their doctoral dissertation. During their stay at NIMS, students will have access to various research facilities of host researcher and NIMS to develop their Ph.D. work.
This program allows researchers from universities and other institutions and their supervised students to stay at NIMS and conduct joint research with NIMS researchers while receiving financial support. The maximum support is 1,000,000 yen, making it possible to stay at NIMS for a long period of time and pursue research in a relaxed atmosphere.
Ph.D. degree holders can pursue their research for up to five years with a salary of at least 6,040,000 yen and an annual research grant of 2,000,000 yen. Basically, the applicant will be expected to pursue his/her own research plan, but we will participate as a mentor, and we can discuss and develop the research together with the applicant.
