Under a cooperative agreement with the university,
NIMS provides graduate students with research and teaching opportunities.
In this graduate program, NIMS researchers serve as supervisors and support students through degree completion.
Students who have earned degrees in this graduate program are working at the forefront of materials science around the world.

Polymer materials, machine learning, adhesion materials, coating materials Focusing on structural adhesion and coating materials, we develop data-driven polymer materials by integrating cutting-edge surface analysis, state-of-the-art polymerization technologies, and process processing with machine learning and smart laboratories.

NIMS Jr

NIMS offers the NIMS Graduate Research Assistantship to doctoral/master’s students who aspire to a career as researchers in materials science. The assistantship carries a monthly stipend to assist academically deserving students in fulfilling their academic goals. Those students appointed as NIMS Junior Researcher will enable to gain insight into their research career by “hands on” experience of working on latest research projects, without financial hardship.

Internship Program

NIMS Internship program is open for undergraduate and graduate students attending courses at universities in and out of Japan, aiming to provide technical experience of cutting-edge research activities in the field of materials and science. If you would like to use the world’ s leading research equipment and facilities, take part in the research projects and the interactions with researchers from all over the world. For the maximum 90-day program, excellent students would be financially supported by NIMS.

JSPS Fellowship (日本学術振興会特別研究員)

If you apply for and are selected as a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow, you will be accepted as a postdoctoral fellow at our group. Please refer to the JSPS website for an overview of the program. Please consult with the host researcher by e-mail or other means before applying for this program. The JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship is an excellent program that allows you to concentrate on your research for a period of three years. We encourage you to take up this challenge. When applying, please consult directly with the staff member whom you wish to accept as a researcher.
