Astha Khandelwal

I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in the Materials Engineering department at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), India, under the guidance of Professor Bhagwati Prasad (link to lab).

Recently, I joined the 2D Quantum Materials Group at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS, Japan) through the NIMS-ICGP program under Dr. Ryo Kitaura.

I am passionate about investigating how interfaces with low-dimensional materials exhibit unique properties that are absent in their bulk counterparts.

To support this research, I have experience in functional materials thin film growth utilizing pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and sputtering techniques. I have now joined the 2D materials group, where I am excited to explore the proximity effects occurring at the interfaces of functional materials thin films with low-dimensional materials using Kerr effect and spectroscopic techniques.
