Mr. A.R. Dilipan, a graduate student in Univ. of Tsukuba, won the "STAM Young Scientist Award 2024" at SACSEM (The 10th Southeast Asian Joint International Conference on Energy Materials-2) for his poster presentation.

The presentation was on "Combinatorial sputtering synthesis of TbCu7-type Sm-Fe-based compounds:
A study on phase, composition and extrinsic magnetic properties"

NIMS Junior Researcher A.R. Dilipan, Group Leader Yukiko Takahashi and others have succeeded in synthesizing a new SmFe-based magnetic compound with magnetic properties that exceed those of the neodymium-iron compounds that make up neodymium magnets.

Tozman, in collaboration with Seagate Technology and Tohoku University, have demonstrated that multi-value recording is possible by making the magnetic recording medium three-dimensional in hard disk drives (HDDs) used as recording devices in data centers.

    NIMS and Tohoku Gakuin University have developed a boron-doped anisotropic Sm(Fe0.8Co0.2)12 thin film containing only small amount of rare earth elements. The compound exhibited 1.2 tesla coercivity, sufficient for use in automotive electric motors.
