The 8th Japanese Culture Class 2010 -Seal Engraving-
The 8th Japanese Culture Class "Seal Engraving" was held at Ninomiya House on December 3. The instructor was Mr. Ujin, seal engraving artist. Seal engraving is a popular historical Asian art originated in ancient China. It means making stamps by cutting letters or symbols into a hard surface of stone, ivory or wood. After a lecture and a demonstration by the instructor, 12 participants tried to cut a selected letter in any character to make their own stamp.
