ICYS Research Fellow Dr. Nattapol MA’s Research Project Selected for JST PRESTO 2025 Program Led by 2025 Nobel Laureate Prof. Susumu Kitagawa.

ICYS Research Fellow Dr. Nattapol MA's research project has been selected for the 2025 "PRESTO" program of the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST). PRESTO is a network-based research program that aims to promote unique and challenging, internationally high-level basic research to address the important problems facing our country and to produce creative and innovative technology seeds (new technology seeds) based on new scientific knowledge as a source of scientific and technological innovation that can transform society and the economy.

A wide range of diverse research projects are adapted, and networks are formed with researchers in different fields. This is an opportunity for young researchers to promote independent research, and there is a variety of support to foster growth. In addition, with the support of advisors with researchers and the development of their research environment are also supported.

Research Project: Development of metal-organic glasses for intermediate-temperature hydrogen production

Research Overview: This project aims to develop new synthesis strategies to overcome the design limitations of metal-organic glasses. Inspired by the composition-tuning strategies established for oxide glasses, the network domain size, local structure, and physical properties of metal-organic glasses will be controlled by introducing suitable “modifiers.” The final goal is to create sustainable materials with the high proton conductivity required for water electrolysis at intermediate temperatures.

Dr.MA's Comment: First of all, I am deeply honored to begin my research as part of the PRESTO project under the guidance of Professor Susumu Kitagawa and all the research area advisors. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from their invaluable experience, and I hope to contribute to advancing the foundations of new scientific discoveries.
