We conduct molecular design, synthesis, and evaluation of polymeric materials for medical needs in the fields of medicine and dentistry. In particular, we aim to create innovative polymeric biomaterials such as bioadhesive materials by understanding the interactions at the interface between materials and biological tissues through multidisciplinary analysis at the molecular, cellular, and tissue levels, and by feeding back the obtained knowledge to material design. We will not only accumulate basic and fundamental knowledge about materials, but also develop collaboration with medical/dental institutions and companies to develop clinical applications.
