NIMS Electrochemical Nanobiotechnology Group

Okamoto Laboratory develop new techniques that combine physicochemical methods and microbiology to tackle unsolved biological problems. At the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS, WPI-MANA), one of the world's top material science laboratories, our laboratory is engaged in extremely interdisciplinary scientific research dealing with projects from genes to nanomaterials to data science, providing a unique research environment in which researchers who aspire to explore emerging and interdisciplinary fields can grow. We aim to use the scientific knowledge gained through our research on bacteria, membrane vesicles, viruses, and membrane proteins to improve bioenergy conversion and develop new medical and environmental diagnostic systems, and to contribute to the SDGs.
