International airport: There are several international airports available for most participants arriving from abroad, including Tokyo International Airport (Haneda), Narita International Airport (Narita), Chubu Centrair International Airport (Nagoya), and Kansai International Airport (Osaka). Depending on your schedule and country of origin, please select the most convenient airport. The nearest airport to Toyama city is Toyama Kitokito Airport. Domestic flights such as Tokyo-Toyama and Sapporo-Toyama are operated by ANA. Additionally, there are international flights from Asian countries like Seoul, Dalian, Shanghai, and Taipei; however, some of these flights have not resumed operations since the pandemic.

From Toyama Kitokito Airport, it takes approximately 25 minutes to reach JR Toyama Station by bus. The one-way fare is 420 yen. Please note that bus services may vary depending on flight schedules, so it is advisable to check in advance. For those arriving from international destinations, it may be necessary to arrange additional transit depending on your final destination within Toyama Prefecture.

Grand transportation From Tokyo, the easiest way to reach Toyama is by taking the Hokuriku Shinkansen operated by East Japan Railway Company. The journey from Tokyo Station to Toyama Station takes just 2 hours and 30 minutes, offering a fast and convenient route for travelers.

From Osaka, there are several options. The easiest way to reach Toyama would be to take the JR Thunderbird train from Osaka to Tsuruga (敦賀), which takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. Once at Tsuruga, passengers can transfer to the Hokuriku Shinkansen bound for Toyama, operated by West Japan Railway Company. This combined journey takes about 3 hours in total, making it an efficient way to travel between the two cities.

Toyama City (富山): Toyama City is the largest city and capital of Toyama Prefecture in the Hokuriku Region of northern Chubu. It is a historic castle town and has long been a center of medicine. Due to its position on the Hokuriku Shinkansen, Toyama is a popular stop for tourists traveling to attractions like Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route.

Tram service is available, and most participants will arrive at JR Toyama Station, which is directly linked to the Toyama Station C15 tram stop. The conference site is located just a few minutes’ walk from JR Toyama Station, so there’s no need to take the tram unless participants prefer to. However, using the tram can be a convenient way to enjoy some sightseeing around the city. Participants can visit local attractions such as Toyama Castle, a historic landmark with beautiful gardens and a museum showcasing the city’s history. The Toyama Glass Art Museum offers a chance to view contemporary glass art, while Ikedaya Yasubei Shoten provides a glimpse into traditional woodcraft. Matsukawa Riverside is a serene spot along the Matsukawa River, perfect for a relaxing stroll. All these sites can be conveniently reached by tram during participants’ free time.
