Graduate study with Dr. Taisuke Sasaki

University of Tsukuba–NIMS Joint Graduate Program promotes advanced research and education in materials science and engineering through close collaboration between NIMS and the University of Tsukuba.
Taisuke Sasaki is appointed as a faculty member at the University of Tsukuba and supervises students in both the master’s and doctoral programs.

Research Environment
NIMS provides a world-class research environment, with well-equipped facilities and strong support from researchers and engineers, enabling the acquisition of advanced experimental techniques and the development of essential research skills. Our group consists of members from diverse nationalities and a wide range of generations, and we actively host visiting researchers and students from universities in Japan and abroad.

Research activities and meetings are conducted in English, allowing students to carry out their research without good command in Japanese.

Skills and Expertise You Will Acquire
Students will acquire advanced microstructural characterization skills for metallic materials using state-of-the-art techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and three-dimensional atom probe (3DAP). In addition, they will learn how to understand the origins of key material properties based on microstructural analysis.

Furthermore, students will have the opportunity to apply these insights to the development of high-performance materials.

NIMS Graduate Research Assistantship
NIMS offers a NIMS Graduate Research Assistantship to doctoral/master’s students who aspire pursue careers in materials science research.
