Visit and Seminar by Prof. Matthias Kuehne from Brown University
We were delighted to welcome Prof. Matthias Kuehne from the Department of Physics at Brown University for a visit and a department seminar on June 16th.
Matthias and I were postdoctoral colleagues in the Strano Research Group at MIT, and it was wonderful to reconnect and discuss our current research endeavors.
He delivered the 795th MANA Seminar, titled “Fluidics & Ionics in Low-dimensional Materials Devices.” His talk covered recent advances in understanding the behavior of fluids and ions at the nanoscale, including the intercalation of 2D materials and water behavior in single-digit nanopores like carbon nanotubes. The insights from his work, using cutting-edge microscopy and spectroscopy techniques, open up new avenues for fundamental physics and future technologies.
The seminar was very insightful and stimulated a lot of discussion. We are grateful to Prof. Kuehne for sharing his exciting research with us. We look forward to future collaborations!
